Largest private foreign player in City Gas Distribution in India

City Gas Distribution (CGD) is the fastest-growing end-user segment in India’s burgeoning LNG market and
an integral part of the country’s economic development.

AG&P is one of the largest private players in the market with 12 exclusive CGD licenses from the Petroleum & Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) to exclusively supply piped natural gas (PNG) and compressed natural gas (CNG) in 28 districts in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

AG&P’s concessions in India cover approximately 8.5% of India’s land area and serve an estimated population
of 80 million with all their natural gas requirements.

AG&P is distributing natural gas in highly industrialized areas in states that are home to automobile, chemical, fertilizer, glass, steel, ceramics, food and pharmaceutical industries.  AG&P also serves a variety of other businesses, from hotels to retail to restaurants, etc.

In addition, AG&P also delivers gas to people’s homes – lighting their stoves and powering their white appliances – and is developing a large network of AG&P-branded and partner CNG stations to serve cars, buses and taxis.

Our CGD networks are  being developed to cover ultimately:

  • 277,000 square kilometers (about 8.5% of India’s land area)
  • 80+ million people
  • 10 million households
  • 17,000 inch-km of laid pipeline
  • 1,500+ CNG stations

The benefits of using PNG or CNG as a fuel alternative are:

  • Substantially lower cost than diesel or petrol or LPG
  • Major reduction in carbon emissions as gas is considered a clean fuel
  • Greater convenience than LPG or other fuels
  • Easier maintenance for industrial users and greater heat rates, meaning more effective production

Our India headquarters is in Delhi and our CGD operational headquarters is in Chennai with multiple satellite offices across our concession areas. For more information on our CGD operations in India, contact our CGD exerts.
